Stern park was established for the welfare of the elderly immigrants, most of whom are Holocaust survivors, living in a housing cluster adjacent to the park. The elderly live in the city center in small apartments with no balconies, and there is no green public area nearby where they can spend time outdoor and feel an integral part of the community. For the elderly, the park is a central place for social gatherings and a green, well-tended spot where they can spend time and feel part of the community.
The park is accessible, shaded and bright with plenty of seats. The park serves the elderly, the worshipers of the nearby synagogue and open for the entire city’s residents.
The Stern park was funded by the International Fellowship of Christian & Jews and the Hadera Municipality.
